K9 Huk’s Road to Recovery with First Coast

On July 22, 2022, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office K-9 Officer 'Huk' was struck by several bullets after a pursuit led to a car crash near the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. First responders air lifted the K-9 Officer across Duval County — rushing Huk to the emergency vet with bullets in his neck, hind, and wrist.

Thankfully, our dedicated team at First Coast Veterinary Specialists & Emergency quickly sprang into action. Their expertise and swift response were crucial in stabilizing Huk, performing intricate surgeries to remove the bullets and repair the damage. The First Coast team is honored to be a part of Huk’s journey to recovery.

JSO honored First Coast Veterinary Specialists & Emergency with a “greatest appreciation” award for saving Huk’s life.

“It’s been such an honor and privilege to work with Huk and the K-9 handlers. It’s been amazing to witness their bond,” said Dr. Sydney Davis, a First Coast Emergency Doctor.
